Question DNA Testing After the Fact

In 1996 I filled for divorce had a vasectomy. I started seriously dating 5 years later and thought I was going to take the plunge again until... The she told me that she was pregnant. I made an appointment to check my sperm count, and was told I had ZERO chance of fathering a child.

Needless to say the relationship ended a few weeks later and I moved out of Florida 3 sons from my marriage which I now had custody of. After owning a business in Michigan for 4 years I returned to FL to take a job and was arrested during routine traffic stop for a suspended license because I owed $40,000 in child support.

With a little investigation I found out that she had the papers served to my X's address, which I never lived or received any mail. The papers were served to my 13 year old son which pissed my X off so she trashed the papers and never told me.

So here I am; they take 60% of my pay because I earn half of what I earned when she got pregnant. I cant afford to keep my sons but I cant afford to pay my ex wife child support but I work P/T under the table to pay her. I don't have the money to hire an attorney to get out of this mess. Legal aid was useless. So now I sit here in the library with a bunch of forms that I have no idea how to fill out or the money to file them. I need to have an DNA test requested which I cant afford. Owe, I forgot this one I earn to much to have the filing fees waived. (lol)

Basically I'm living on and trying to fight this with $16,000 after child support.

How hard will it be to reverse the child support?

Does anyone know where I can go in or near Ft. Lauderdale, FL. for legal advice? Or a good book on completing the forms?

Have you shopped around for lawyers? It may be more reasonable than you think to hire a lawyer. If nothing else, consider getting a copy of the paternity file, consulting a lawyer, and getting some advice as to the best legal approach to attack the finding of paternity, even if it costs you an hour or two of lawyer time.

You may wish to explore these resources from the ABA.
