Default Transferring Ownership of a Vehicle

My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Georgia

If you sell a car or otherwise transfer ownership, does the tag and license plate go to the new owner or does it stay with you? If you kept the tag and plate, you couldn't put it on a new car, or could you?

the plate should go back to the state I think ... you can take title and all to dmv and do the transfer there and ask them ..... and DO transfer the title at the DMV with the new owner... 1 hr of pain can save years of suffering.

When you sell a vehicle in Georgia, you retain the license plate.

If you want to register the plate to a new vehicle, you do so through the DOR.
