Default Disputing a Charge for Tickets that Might be Fake

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Illinois

I filed a dispute on my credit card because I thought the tickets were fake. The only way I can now know if they are real is if go to the event and see if I get in. The merhcant says he will deactive the barcode on the tickets because his payment is on hold from the bank. I refuse to close my dispute until after the event to see if the tickets are valid. If I do not get in I plan to provide proof from the ticketbox stating so. If the tickets were real and merchant deactivated the tickets I wouldn't know. Is proof from the ticket box enough evidence for the dispute on the card? And if I got in to the event then I would cancel the dispute. My suspicion of the tickets being fakes wants me to keep the dispute open.

The merchant claims I have stolen tickets now because the tickets are on hold but I purchased the tickets then filed a dispute and cant know if they are real until the event to validate them.

Also the site the merchant posted them on says 100% guarenteed (customer service blows..on hold yest for 25 min and ended up hanging up) but i have been dealing with the merchant directly to try and resolve the issue.

Any advice would be great thanks!

    William

If you don't want to pay for the tickets you bought, and the merchant will invalidate the tickets if you don't pay, it's safe to conclude that your tickets won't work when you get to the venue.

If you don't trust the person from whom you are buying tickets to sell you the real deal, restrict your purchases to authorized ticket vendors.
