My question involves traffic court in the State of: California
I received a ticket for an infraction in Los Angeles under Vehicle Code 22101(d)
I was driving in the right lane on Fairfax Ave. approaching a green light at the intersection with Venice Blvd.. I saw a white "right turn only" sign and immediately switched into the lane to my left in order to go straight (I didn't realize this at the time but I switched lanes right after the broken white line turned into a solid white line. Also there were two orange signs I didn't notice: "Merge to continue straight" and "right lane must turn right."). After I switched lanes I was 3-4 cars behind the beginning of the crosswalk/light/intersection. After I drove through the intersection and continued about 50 feet and officer standing on the side of the road walked into the middle of the road and motioned for me to pull over. I believe observed me from about 100-200 feet, maybe more.
I am wondering if I should try to contest the ticket and if anyone has any advice in general for how to best deal with this.
Thank you!
