You don't get emancipated in Florida without your parents' knowledge, as Florida's emancipation statute requires your parents to initiate the emancipation process.
wow....that really sucks because i need to get emancipated....badly, and if my mum knew, lets say things wouldn't be pretty at home. they arent already, so what do i do if i dont have my parents concent to get emancipated??!!!
so if the situation at home is harmful to the child...and the child needs to leave for fear of their life or something...they are suposted to walk up to their parent and say "hey mum, by the way, i want to get emancipated" if i did that my mum would beat me...so i have to tough it out for the next year and a half until im 18 then???
If there is abuse at home, then it should be reported.

You can also talk to a counselor at school.
Oh yes, I agree with happy trails! You may not be emancipated if you are being abused, but you may be taken from the home, and put in foster care, in a place not of your choice, unless it is a family member that the judge would have no problems at all putting you with!
the abuse isnt that bad...but it is at the same time, if my mum found out i was talking to someone about it, she owuld like beat me once she found out i was telling people.....so all i have to do is say "mum can i get emancipated" and if she says yes i can, and if she says no i cant??
Hon, there is more to it than that. Even if your mom says yes, you have to show the judge that you can support yourself 100%, with no help from anyone, no roomates, no friends, no government assistance. You have to be free from legal troubles (for they would definately not emancipate a law breaker), and you have to stay in school. That would be so hard on you, to go to school, and go to work full time. I hate to say it, but it would serve a better purpose for you to wait until you are 18. Now, I must ask, not including how mad she would be if you told her you wanted to be emancipated, how often does she hit you, where does she hit you, does she leave marks, when was the last time you were hit by her?
