My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Georgia
This is a pre-emptive question: If one spouse incurs a large amount of medical bills that can't be paid (other than a very small amount a month), how likely is the hospitals, etc, likely to not only put a lien on home but take to court and get an order to sell home in order to satisfy debt if home is paid for? (Ga only allows for $5,000 towards homestead declartion) Also, Ga doesn't recognize tenancy by entirity so if the deed is put into one spouses name only (before sickness and bills are incurred) can they still come after home of other spouse? Thanks
