My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan

I was put on Probation in Michigan for 6 months for possession of marijuana. As I was sentenced for probation from Michigan, I had an open case for another Possession of Marijuana in another state. Just 2 nights ago I was given a summons for possession of alcohol in a public place, which according to the ticket reads: "a violation, not a crime" which also based on internet findings, equivalent to a traffic ticket.

Based on what you read from this post, what can I expect in terms of probationary violations or future consequences?
Also, why would the court place someone on probation when they have an open case for the same charge but in a different state? Am I given a sense of leniency from the court because the judge already knew of my open case, along with my Probation Officer?

Thank you.
