My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
Long story short, back in May, the university police found a lightbulb vaporizer in my dorm room and wrote me a citation for drug paraphernalia. They told me I would hear back about it and have to go to court in the town. Two months later and I still haven't heard anything about it. I don't want to call the court and kind of, bring up the fact I got a citation, you know, but someone I talked to from the school today told me I should check up on it.
My question is, if I haven't been convicted of anything, will it still show up on my background checks? If I get pulled over, will I be told I have a warrant out for my arrest for not paying for the ticket? Or mailed something about a warrant?
It's possible the charges could've been dropped, I'm hoping, because it was K2 (I know this is still considered drug paraphernalia) and it was UPD, and the police didn't find what they thought I had, but I'm not sure. Is this probable?
Also, the person I talked to from the school is not associated with the police/UPD at all. I am 19 years old. This was my first offense ever, if that means anything. I'm also curious because tonight I was the park with a friend for an hour. The park "closes" at 10 and it was 11. An officer came and told us to leave, so we got up from our swings when he said, "actually, come here for a second" which we did. He asked to see our IDs which we didn't have on us (I literally live right across from the park) and asked how old we were. We told him we were both 19, to which he replied "you guys look like you're 15." Then he claimed he saw me throw a cigarette I was smoking when I saw him (I don't smoke cigarettes; haven't smoked at all since May when this incident happened in fact) and said he saw smoke. Me and my friend both laughed and said no, then he was like, "oh, maybe I just saw the mist from the sprinklers." Anyway, I just showed him my school ID and he wrote down my name and asked for my birthday. This is why I'm kind of nervous my citation/charge whatever will show up if he decides to "check" to see if I was lying about my age or something, or lying that I was smoking. I don't want someone knocking on my door while I'm at home for the summer. Please help! Thanks!
