    Default California Sex Offender Obligations

My question involves criminal records for the state of: California.

I would like to know where one can get detailed sex offender registration requirements such as restrictions on where a sex offender can live (distance from schools and that sort of thing).

Does California have restrictions like that? I have searched online but only find very general information. Any one know of a comprehensive list online?

    Thank you

You want a single list of all state and local restrictions for the entire state?

The CA Dept of Justice outlines sex offender requirements at

However, it's important to note that there are varying levels of registration, and that judges have some level of discretion in imposing ADDITIONAL requirements as may be deemed appropriate.
Yes, I have found that page BUT that is an example of what I am referring to as very general information. For example, that gives no information about restrictions of where a RSO can live (distance from schools for example). It doesn't give details on who is required to wear a GPS device. It doesn't mention what parks in what counties that a RSO is prohibited from entering.

As you can see there is much that is not addressed on that page HENCE my question as to where (if any place) this detailed information is available online.

    Anyone else?

An actual lawyer perhaps who knows?

    Thanks

I would be happy with that or by county just anything detailed and not just general.

A registered sex offender has few restrictions when they are not on probation or parole. They really cannot be prohibited from going most anywhere.

I am not sure exactly what you are asking for. Sex offenderson active parole or probation can and do hae restrictions as to where they might be able to live, but there are exceptions even to those rules.

This link is a good one and may answer many or all of your questions:

    http://www.sdcda.org/preventing/sex-...ers/index.html

Perhaps if you stated why you were asking? Are you looking for a place that will be free from any and all sex offenders? Do you know a sex offender you want to try and get into trouble? Or, are you asking on behalf of a sex offender because you want to kw where he can go and when?

So, perhaps you can provide a little more detail.

I am register in Florida for 1 count of possession of child porn in 1999 (just downloading 1 image...no producing it) never had 1 day in jail, only probation that I completed with no problems. I moved out of Florida to California 2005 and registered there as that is legally required. No problem with that. I was also in the 25% of RSO who are not listed on the states online site due to the low level of the crime so it presented minimal problems (as minimal as being a RSO can). I moved overseas in 2007 and am preparing to return to California where I will of course, follow the law and register again.

Now that you have more background you can see why I ask my question. When I lived in Califorina for example, there were no restrictions as to where a RSO could live. I understand that now there are due to the ever changing new laws and restrictions placed on RSO (that being such an easy thing to rile voters up about and who wants to appear "soft" on "perverts" like us RSO). I also heard that certain parks (even public state parks) are now banning entrance by RSO as well. You see the laws just keep changing a more and more restrictions added.

I would simply like to know what they actually are so I know if returning to California is even worth it...or I am like so many RSO simply being zoned under a bridge like they have effectively done with RSO in Florida at this point.

Thank you for any information you can provide!

The San Diego DA link I provided is probably the most comprehensive list of restrictions I have seen. For the most part, you will not be violating any state laws by living or going where you want provided you do not violate any OTHER laws. There are enhancements for many related crimes should you intend to commit any lewd acts.

The living restriction is currently only applicable to parolees and probationers and not to those who are clear.
