My question involves criminal law for the state of: Minnesota
Last August I was arrested and ultimately sentenced to one year of probation to the court, a stay of imposition, and plead guilty to tampering with a motor vehicle. The terms of my probation were 3 days STS, complete chemical dependency treatment, and remain law abiding. about a week ago, I received a ticket for posession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, and posession of drug paraphernalia. I understand this could have serious consequences as it may be ruled as a violation of my probation. My plan is to meet with a city attorney next tuesday and do whatever I can to get this most recent charge off my record. If it is taken off, will it still be a probation violation, and what sort of punishments should I expect?
