I Was Jumped Today

Well today i was jumped by two males they confronted me on my way home and asked me "if i was just with my boy" i backed up in to the street and looked at them confused and said no knowing i was just at my girlfriends house they left me alone and as i turned the corner walking towards ma house they ran up behind me and started taking swings at me but i began ducking and moving i couldent fight back because as soon i ducked one punch the other one was comeing at me they eventually triped me and i fell and they started raining down hits on me so i defened my self as they tried to open my arms for something i wouldent let them so they stoped and asked me to run my pockets but i didint have anything to take so they kept walking and said "tell ya boy we lookin for em" and not knowing what they were talking about kept walking home and called the cops didint really feel the pain till after i got home. But the two males where caught and they both had screwdrivers on them so my question is what can these guy be charged with?? and how much time would they do?? and also am i safe?? because i do care about them anymore i care about me i do not want to get hurt now in my life when i have a lot of thing going on in my life and a lot of things to look forward to. By the way i live in new york.

How old are the suspects?

What did the police say when you reported the attack? What have they charged them with?

And no one can say whether you will be "safe" Anything can happen in the future. They might have friends, they might not. You might get hit by a bus. Who knows? You can choose to live in fear or keep moving ahead in life.

I am 18 years old and i dont know the suspects actual ages but there definataliy over 16 and the cops didint really tell me anything.

It is impossible to say what penalties they might face without knowing what offenses they have been charged with.

If your jurisdiction has a victim-witness assistance program, look them up and check in with them. They can probably provide you with more accurate information and services to assist you.

Basically, you were robbed. The fact that the told you to "run your pockets" substantiates that. Even if they really thought they knew you through "your boy," the fact that they articulated a direct intention to rob you is enough for that. The rest of the matter depends on the circumstances. Were ther weapons involved, did they say anything else that is damaging to them before, during or after attacking you that would indicate another motive, etc...

Sounds as if their only intention was to rob you and the story about your boy was diversionary and to leave you confused until it was too late to react.

Well when i was in the prcinct i over heard the cops say they couldent charge then with robbery becuase they did not tke anything from me but they had wepons on them just did not use them so im atill left wondering what they could be charged with. Could they still be locked up in the presinct or are they out?

Well that would be attempted robbery then. If I went through your pockets, but didn't get anything bedase you did have anything, that won't negate my intent. Depending on what kind of weapons they had, they could be charged with UUW. Hard to say.

Who knows? If they are minors, they might be in custody or released to parents. If they are adults, they might be released on bail or their own recognizance. They could be charged with assault, attempted robbery, brandishing a weapon, criminal threats, or any one or more of a number of offenses. There is no way we can possibly know - we can only guess wildly.

Check for a victim-witness advocate in your jurisdiction, or call the police and ask to speak with someone looking into the case ans ask THEM what they have been charged with and where the case stands.
