Default Terminated for Inappropriate Comment, But Was Not Told Details

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Washington

I was terminated for making a statement at a seminar on harassment...however the speaker told us it was a safe space and that we could speak freely...however other employees state they do not recall me making any statements and employer did not tell me what I said...

Then I was told I made an inappropriate statement after the seminar...but was not told what I said or who I said it to...I left seminar while on personal call (lunch hour)...and didn't see anyone else from work...

Furthermore employer said I received letter from vacating tenant...but I didn't have any vacating tenants...

I am confused...this seems so vague and I was never given a chance to respond...

Unfortunately there is no protected "speech" in that context, in that environment.

And worse, even if they are mixing you up with someone else, you have no recourse. This is not an illegal termination from what you've said here.

In an at-will state, which is every state except Montana and even includes Montana in some circumstances, the only thing they have to say to you is, alacarte, your services are no longer required.

And it's not even legally required that they tell you that much, if they can let you know in other ways, such as not putting you on the schedule.

Your being completely baffled by your employer's decision is understandable but they don't have to provide any specifics to support their decision and as the other posters commented, your termination was not illegal.
