My question involves criminal law for the state of: Wisconsin
I committed a retail theft in Wisconsin about 5 years ago. Basically a guy gave me money to go get groceries for his restaurant over the weekend and I didnt come back with the money. Then he called the cops and they asked me to turn myself in so I did and I was charged with retail theft less than $150. I can't find it on my record when I search the circuit court system for Wisconsin and I am wondering if it comes up somehow in a more extensive background check an employer might do. Maybe one I cannot access. So basically I am wondering is this on my record somewhere that I cannot see it but employers can? Do I have to put this offense on all my job applications? Will I always have to? Will it always show up for the rest of my life and is there a way to get rid of it if so? Basically I regret what I did. I kinda said screw him but obviously that was the wrong thing to do and its not really in my nature to steal but its on my record like I cant be trusted at work or something so what can I do and how long will it be there?
