My husband has been transferred in his job to another state. I found a provision in my lease that states I have to give 60 days notice in writing and the lease can be terminated. I am in Oklahoma. I told my landlord of intent to terminate lease before I saw this information. He originally said that I would have to pay 65% of my rent as a commision fee to renent the house and would be responsible for the rent for the remainder of the lease if it was not rerented. That is for 10 more months! We pay $1050 in rent. We cannot afford that. My question is this, Since that stipulation is in the lease contract about the 60 days, can they still hold me liable for the reaining amount? Am I really responsible for a commission fee to rerent the house? He is not returning my calls so I do not know what to do. I am really scared. Can someone give me some advice. Thanks
