Default Employee's Purse Stolen by a Customer

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida.

    Hello!
I work at walmart and recently a customer came in ( I work night Shifts) and stole my purse(it was hidden under my reister). What makes me angry is that the lady even spoke to me while I had the money of my register on me so I didn't pay any atenttion to her since I'm not allowed.

I had my car keys, credit cards, social security card and id's on my wallet. A few minutes after she took it I noticed and called the cops. I checked my card online and she tried to use them bur they were decline since she put the wrong zipcode (credit card).

A month after I recieve a letter from a detective saying that they found my driver's license on somebody (I reported my driver's licence stolen that's how he knew). The detective saw the videos from walmart and gave the sherrief's her information.

I was informed today that she changed the story more than 4 times but finally confessed today. She said she threw the purse into a trash can a few days later. My question is, can I make anything so they can charge her besides theft? I fel that she deserves to be punished. I couldn't use my car and had nobody to pick me up at mid, im a college student anf had to spend all my saving so i could get my car locks changed and a new system since I was scared she would go back and try to steal my car also. Please any help will be aprecciatted!

There really isn't anything else she can be charged with. The state is going to charge what the state feels they have a strong case on. She will be punished, just not to the extreme you wish. If you are concerned about the money you spent, you can sue her civilly or see if the prosecution can have restitution added to the penalties. Contact the courts Victim/Witness Advocate with any questions.

Concur with free9man. The courts do sometimes order restitution be paid, but you need to contact the Victim's Assistance Program/Advocate (names vary by state) to see how to make that happen.

Sometimes there are funds available through the Assistance Program to help you defray the costs associated with being the victim of a crime, but these funds are often quite limited, and may cover only a fraction of your losses, if the funds are even available to you at all.
