My question involves criminal law for the state of: california to washington.

i am needing information on what the criteria is from switching my probation to washington state. i dont want to contact my probation department because my move date is a while away and not sure if it will be possible yet. i have looked all over the internet and cant find anything. so this is my last resort before contacting probation in washington. any info would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Well, the sooner the better. The only way you are going to find out if it is possible is by asking your PO. If it is possible, it will likely take months to get approved. It is not going to happen on your schedule or put a rush on it to accommodate you, the approval will take however long it takes. So, get on it now.

The only thing Washington DOC is going to tell you is to work it out with your PO. Any request to transfer your probation has to come from your CA PO, not from you. First you make the request to your PO. If your PO approves, then it has to be approved by the department. If it is approved by the department, your PO will make the request to WA DOC. If WA DOC is willing to supervise you, then it will be approved and you can move to WA.

And, just so you know...don't get your hopes up. WA DOC is cash strapped, under staffed, and not eager to take on supervision of another state's problem children.

Plus you need to be in compliance and have more than six months remaining before a request will be made. If, WA says no, then the answer is no. CA could very well apporve your transfer just to have WA reject it. So, the sooner, the better.
