Default Husband was fired from an at will employer

My husband was fired from an "at will" employer, he had been working there 5 months.. He has never gotten into trouble, never late, never written up, and never talked to. Come to find out 2 days after he was fired they hired a "friend" of the boss.. Anything we can do? There probation period was at will for one year, he asked why he was getting fired and they would not give him a reason. He went to human resources and asked them why and they said on the advice of their attorneys they could not tell him.. Any answers would help...

Default Termination of "at will" employment

Perhaps you will find some helpful information in this article on "wrongful termination of at will employment".

As a general rule, at will employment can be terminated for any reason the employer chooses, provided it does not violate discrimination laws or other legal protections. That is, the employer can't fire you because he doesn't like the color of your shoes, but he could ostensibly fire you because he doesn't like the color of your car. The precise protections available to an at-will employee will vary to some degree based on state law.
