Default Must You Submit ID's and SS Number to File Divorce

I called a few divorce ad on the newpaper about divorce infomation, they said if you choose us to help with the divorce, you must give us copies of your ids and Social Secuirty Cards with the divorce forms to be sent to the NYC Court. I felt weird about this, I had a divorce 8 years ago and I don't remember submitting any of these for a divorce...

Is this a new requirement and must be submitted with divorce forms?

Am I require to let them know I have a prior divorce 8 years ago in the forms for this currently marriage?

Do I need to submit original or copy of my Marriage Cert. and prior divorce (in other marriage) with form for divorce?

Please let me know the real documents require to prepare for a divorce.

Thank you very much for your help.

Yes, a 7 years old child. We agreed on join custody.

To give you some detail, I stayed in Asia for awhile and meet her. I married her in NYC while she visited my family. Few days after our marriage, we moved back to Asia for good, since she never wanted to stay in USA.

As all marriage have problems, we separated (not legally by written) for 2 years now. We decided to send our child to USA for a better education. A year ago, I decided to come back to NYC to look after my child.

Please give some advises. By the way, I cannot locate the Marriage Cert, but I have the cert number and date of marriage. Will this be a problem?

    Thanks again.

The requirement may be for the purposes of establishing the child custody and support order. Check with the law firms you spoke with. Here in Michigan, we have to submit similar information for custody cases to a court agency which maintains it in a confidential file, and (if the lawyer is proactive) it is generally possible to keep such sensitive information out of the public court file.
