Caught Shoplifting, Police Not Informed

My question involves criminal law for the state of: pennsylvania

I was recently caught for shoplifting. i was taken into their theft department and my information wasw taken down. To my knowledge no police were informed. The man stated to me that becuase I cooperated,and it was my first offense that "everything would be ok" and that they wouldnt prosecute. I would receive a letter in the mail telling me to pay a fine. As i have done some research online I keep seeing court dates and finger printing. I am scared to death. i have never ever ever been in trouble and i dont know what to do. I havent told my husband yet as I'm scared what hewill sayor do...though i think he may be the last ofmy worries. Any help or adviceis greatly appreciated. the total shoplifted was about $50.

I guess my question is if they said they won't prosecute and I was let go stating I would get a letter in the mail that I need to pay a fine and told to pay and that it will be ok. I was also told if I cooperated it would be between me and them, which i was very cooperative. So when i pay the fine will that be that basically? I'm embarrassed and humiliated. I can't tell anyone. I've def learned a lesson And will never ever do again. Such a irresponsible idiotic selfish move on my part. Sick to my stomach over this. Also no pics or fingerprints taken. I'm Praying they don't prosecute and I pay the fine and try and get over this.
