Default How Can Your Speed Be Clocked By an Officer Going in the Opposite Direction

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Indiana

I was travelling in front of my friend on the way to work this morning and a state trooper going in the opposite direction "clocked" me AND my friend at 98. Additionally he didnt take my registration or insurance. Possibilities with radar locking on to vehicles, or with technicalities/procedural issues? What angles can I take with this? how do you go about discovery?

ALSO: the officer claimed that deffering the ticket was 26 over the speed limit and below and mine was 28 but that I could try...should I fight it or defer if possible?

Ticket cost isnt the issue its that I do not want it on my record.

    Thanks.

Radar units have stationary and moving modes. They constantly blast oncoming traffic using the front antenna on their cars. Speed is calculated, taking into account the trooper's speed. So yes, it is possible to be clocked in the opposite direction.

The trooper probably clocked the front car (you) and saw your friend driving at roughly the same speed = two tickets.

I don't know about your procedural questions though.

What do you mean 'discovery procedures'? At court the cop will show the printout from the radar gun if that's what you're asking. There's really not much you can do.

As far as checking calibrations of the radar and the tuning fork as well as the speedometer...the other tickets issued by the cop that day and past 3 months, officers training and car records...

the other part of the question was just about different angles..and procedures of how this process works
