Default Remove Multiple Vendor Layers but Work for the Same Client

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: NY/NJ

I work on 1099 with my Vendor, my structure is: 1099 (myself)-->Vendor-->prime vendor-->client

I have a green card and contract with my vendor was for 6 months which ended back in Feb 2012 so i am not on a contract anymore.

My issue: i have been getting very delayed payments from my vendor therefore i spoke to my manager (client) about this issue and he is supportive of my issue and agreed with me if i switch my vendor. My (manager) client is fully supportive of my decision to switch the vendors.

Question: can i remove the 2 existing layers of vendor and prime vendor and switch to completely new vendor who has relation with my client.
Also, i spoke to one of my client's trusted vendor and they have no issues with hiring me.
The only question they asked is if i have a any obligation/contract with my existing vendors and the answer to that according to me is NO.

Thanks for your help/feedback in advance.

    Regards,
    G

Well if you don't have an obligation to your existing vendor, then you don't have any problems.

You appear to have answered your own question. If you have no contractual liability to your current employer, you're free to quit and go work for anyone you wish to, including another vendor who would place you with your current client company.
