My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio.
A friend and I were caught with <3g of marijuana. It was his, but in my bookbag, and thus we were both charged with possession. The officer asked to search said bookbag, I refused, but he continued to do so anyway. In any case, we were charged with minor misdemeanor possession charges, the officer said they are waiverable. What exactly does waiving a charge mean? I receive federal financial aid, and cannot to have a drug conviction on my record. Can I waive the charges, or am I better off taking the case to court?
Thanks for any advice, I highly appreciate it.
