My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Illinois/Indiana

I am reposting this question since I originally asked it in a thread that had already been answered:

When they conduct a background check, I know employers/hiring managers see the original charge, the conviction, dates, and restitution paid as I've had one done. However, do they get the actual court documents that show the details of the crime/what happened?

When I need to explain, I would like to give as few details as possible hoping that what happened will not seem so serious, but I'm worried that if they can actually read for themselves what happened, then it will look like I am trying to gloss over a serious problem. (What originally happened was that I used a company credit card without authorization for personal charges in 2009, charged as felony theft, reduced to a misdemeanor theft at sentencing). Restitution and probation has been completed.

I do not plan to lie, but to simple and vague and hope they dont ask for additional details. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
