Default Can I Still Attend College if I Move Out of My Parents House

I want to move out of my parents house to live with my boyfriend and his parents. I am almost 19 and just finished my first year of college. He lives in another state. He and his parents would help me get through college and support me. Can i move out without my parents permission and still be able to attend college in my boyfriends state?

    In what state are you?

The age of majority is 18 in most states, but there are just a couple where it's older.

Will your move out of state mean you're paying more because of residency requirements?

The age of majority in SC is 18. So you are free to move out any time you like, move anywhere you like, and go to college anywhere that will accept you.

However, this is a double edged sword. Since you are a legal adult, you have the right to move anywhere you like; however, since you are a legal adult, your parents have no legal responsibility to pay one dime towards your support. This includes college tuition. So while you are free to make the move if you want to, your parents cannot be required to contribute towards your care, support or education.

If she moves, my guess is she'll never finish college. Why would she ask others to pay for her education?

If i stay with my parents my college is completely paid for because my mother works at my college. that is the thing that is holding me back from moving.

OK, wait...you have the opportunity to have your college completely paid for, and you want to give it up and go into hock to go to college closer to your boyfriend? Not even your husband, but merely your boyfriend?

Is he really worth the 20 years of student loan payments? Sweetie, don't. If it's meant to be, it can survive you two only seeing each other on breaks. Passing up a fully funded education for some dude is doing yourself a grave disservice.
