Default Accused of a Crime I Did Not Commit

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Pennsylvania

I am the main suspect for an assault case. I DID NOT DO ANYTHING. I was walking with a group of friends at the time of the incident yet cops claim that they have substantial evidence that it was me and me alone. I am baffled, as I am completely innocent. Now they want me to take a polygraph test. What do you think? Are the cops just trying to scare me into admitting something I did not do?

You should consult a lawyer and make no statements. They can and likely will tell you anything, to make you give them info they can use to prosecute you. If you remain silent and have counsel, your friends can be subpoenaed to testify on your behalf if they do cobble a case together. Polygraph tests are only as good as the person giving them. Bumping your chair, during a question can give you a false affirmative.

You are mot required to take a polygraph so why would you? Don't be talking to the po po. They'll only add more charges against you.

Nobody here can tell you whether the cops are bluffing or not. Tell us what happened and maybe we can give opinions of whether you have anything to worry about. You are free to refuse the polygraph or make any statements to the police for that matter. However, without knowing the circumstances, I cannot offer an opinion of whether that is in your best interest or not.
