Default What Happens if You're Caught Shoplifting Jewelry

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Arizona
I got caught shoplifting a $6 earring. I am under 18, my first time, what will happen?
Whether I get charged or not I will be attending classes and doing volunteer work because I feel terrible.

Were police involved? If so, it will go to court.

You don't specify your age. Some states consider 17 adult, others 18. If you are younger...you best confess to your parents NOW.

There will be a Civil Demand in the mail. Depending on your age, it will be addressed to either you or your parents. It needs to be paid.

I am 15, and my parents already know. The police called them themselves.
And whats a civil demand? Also, I gave back the merchandise.

A civil demand is a bill that you and your parents can receive, where the store demands money to partially offset the costs that you and other shoplifters cause it to incur.
Quote Quoting A.R.S. Sec. 12-692. Shoplifting by unemancipated minor; liability of parent or guardian; foster parents
    A. The parents or legal guardians having custody or control of an unemancipated minor who commits shoplifting as defined by section 13-1805 are civilly liable to the owner of the obtained goods for all of the following:

    1. A penalty in the amount of the retail value of the obtained goods.

    2. An additional penalty of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than one hundred dollars plus the actual damages to the owner.

    B. Foster parents are not liable under subsection A of this section for the acts of children placed with them pursuant to title 8, chapter 4, article 4 or 5.
