My question involves criminal law for the state of: CA
I know I was stupid, but I already did it so I don't know if is there anyway that I can return the original item back?
I went to Macys the other day to return a shirt which I bought online. I switched the tag of the item that I bought and attached it to another item which is a lot cheaper. I went to the cashier and did the return. He just proceed it. I think he was kinda suspicious but he still refunded it anyway. So Macys did give a full refund for me and took the cheaper shirt. However, a few minutes later, I came back the stores and I found that shirt was on the rack near the cashier. I then removed the wrong tags that I attached to the shirt and took that tag away with me, then walked out the store without being caught.
I'm now so nervous right now because I'm afraid that they might see me removing the tag of the shirt that I just returned on camera and even though I already walked out the stores without being caught they can still look up my cc info that I used to purchased the item to find me and file a case.
Now, I really want to return that shirt to the store but I don't know exactly how to do so =( And I believe that if the store want to pursuit this case, they have to do it in a period of time, is anyone know how long is that time?
Thanks and I promise never ever do this again!
