My question involves an easement in the state of: California
I have enjoyed access to a friend’s land for over 20 years through a particular easement. Five years ago I purchase the property adjacent to their land and have continued accessing both properties through this easement. This easement includes a locked gate. The owner of the property with the locked gate has recently changed the combination and instructed us to access our property through a different easement that also includes locked gates. Does the owner of the property with this easement/gate have any right to deny us access through this easement?
