My question involves a relationship in the state of: South Dakota
My girlfriend and I, along with my sister plan on moving into a new apartment complex in a few weeks. As it stands now, none of us live together. All three of us will be on the lease, leaving us all obligated to pay associated rent/deposit costs.
What I'm wondering is, is it possible to have a "three party" contract among ourselves in reference to our obligations as far as utilities, cable, internet, etc.?
I lived with a buddy once and we had no such agreement as far as bills were concerned. The utilities and the like were all in my name because I have the credit that provided us the luxury of not having to pay deposits and I ended up getting burned over the deal. I trust my sister and my girlfriend completely, but people change and I'm trying to avoid a situation like above. I learned my lesson.
So, essentially, I want a contract between myself, my girlfriend, and my sister that says we each owe 1/3 of utilities (elec., gas, water), internet, phone, and cable bundle, plus other household bills that we agree to each be obligated to for a specified length of time. (Say, end of the lease.)
Tell me, is this a recognized type of contract?
