What Punishment Could I Face for Assault

My question involves criminal law for the state of: AK
Hi i was charged with assault. My former boss and I got in an arguement. He got within 6 inches of my face at which point i grabbed his shirt. Then he grabbed mine. Then i pinned him on the ground. Then i got choked out by a coworker (obviously wanted a promotion). Anyway thats where it ended. The only criminal history I have is tresspassing which got dropped. Now I am in veteran court (5 months so far!!) where I am supposed to attend AA meetings and get a sponsor now because they found I had low liver enzymes and I admitted to drinking in the military (about 4 years ago). I dont have a problem with alcohol. I can't follow AA. It is taking forever and I need to find a job which is crazy with all these meetings and counciling noone wants to hire. Can I opt for community service or a fine? or Suppose I "opt out" of veteran court. What kind of punishments do you think i would face for this assault??

Ok...is the low liver enzymes due to an identifiable medical condition unrelated to alcohol? Or, is it the accepted medical opinion that it is caused by chronic alcohol abuse?

You understand, of course, that those two statements seem to contradict each other.

Veteran's court has imposed the conditions of your deferment. You cannot simply "opt" for conditions more to your liking unless the court offers you those choices.

I'm guessing you were charged with 4th degree assault. That is a class A misdemeanor with a possible sentence of up to a year in jail. What sentence a court would actually impose, I cannot guess.
