My question involves criminal law for the state of: Colorado inmate currently on parole. Was arrested in 1989 for 2nd degree murder. Given a 30-year sentence. Did 13 years in prison, 7 months at a half-way house, 8 years on I.S.P. and on January 26, 2011, was paroled. Was given 1 year and 10 months parole. Was looking at my mititmus the other day and mitimus reads, "30 years and one year parole". Can't find case law on this but have been told that sentencing/parole guidelines from 1989 in Colorado do not have discretionary limits on parole - they cannot be extended beyond what is on the mititmus. In other words, one year parole is only one year parole. Parole officer isn't much help. Said find the case law and he would submit it to time-comp. It is now April 4, 2012 and cannot find case law. Any help would be appreciated. I live in a smalll town and public library does not have old C.R.S. Thanks in advance for your time. (p.s. - in Colorado, Time comp will not even speak with you - have to go through your parole officer).
