I'm Turning 18 and Want to Move in with My Mom

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: maryland

I turn 18 in about a week and I have about 2 months left of school. Ill be moving form elkton to havreDeGrace and my mother already said she would make sure that I graduate. My dad has full custody and he says he has a court order that states that i have to stay with him till I graduate from High school. My dad keeps saying that my mom will get tired of me and that ill end up dropping out of school. He also says that If I try to move out before or after I turn 18 He will get the court involved. I dont like it at my dads they are always putting me down they hide alot of my stuff from me like my clothing that they dont like which are just bright colored jeans and they are always in my room when im not there. atleast I think they are beacuse things have gone missing recently. I feel like I have no privacy there. I feel like my dad and his girlfriend are emotionaly abusive because of the things they say to me and about me that they either make sure i hear or they dont know i hear. I want to more out of there wensday but my birthday is saturday. my dad i know wont let me leave. But can I leave?

the court order he has does not control your actions. It is a judgement directing your parents as to who has what control over you but it does not control you. Neither of your parents can express control over you once you are 18 years of age.

Tell dad to go ahead and go to court where you will simply tell the judge you are no longer a minor and have chosen to live someplace other than with your father.

If your father attempts to prevent you from leaving, once you are 18, call the police and tell them of the situation. They will (or at least should) escort you from the property.
