My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Indiana
Hello, I am currently 16 years old, turning 17 in the summer of this year. I am a gay male, which has brought a lot of tension between my parents and I. Emotional, physical, and mental abuse have been very involved in our situation, and I think it's best that I finally move out. They [my parents] own their own business, and are usually working on projects, and me being gone from them would also let them have more freedom to travel for work more, which they would like.
They have agreed to the emancipation process.
I have a close family-friend whose willing to take me in, pay for everything. I am currently looking for a job too. I have close to $400 in a bank account.
Before I go to fill out the emancipation forms with my parents or intend to, what other necessary tips or precautions should I take?
Do I really need an attorney in order to present this to a court?
Thank you very much.
