My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio
Ok, so I got caught shoplifting etc. Police were involved, but was told by the LP since I did not open the package, I would not be fined extra. Anyways it was a dollar amount of about $34 and my arraignment is coming up soon, so I just have a few questions before I go in.
First of all it is an arraignment, so they 1) confirm my identity, 2) read the charges and 3) ask for my plea, but before that will I have a public defender appointed? Or at least be able to consult one?
Second, this is just in case I am not able to consult a PD, everyone has been saying to plead not guilty, My only "prior" if you will is having a warrant because of a misunderstanding for paying a ticket, I don't know if that would have any effect but thats just for your consideration. Anyways, is this the point where I beg for Diversion or do I have to go further into the motions before that would be considered?
Anyways I'm just looking for some input, any would be helpful and I am grateful for all of it.
