Default Admission of out of status student

I am concerned that one of my international students and/or my university may have a legal problem. This student was enrolled here in the college where I teach with F1 status and then transferred to another institution where she failed all four courses taken in one semester. She then transferred back to this school, got a new (?) I-20 and was admitted (readmitted?). Can she legally take classes here at this point? Should she have been admitted? Thanks for any expertise. MI

Presumably your college verified the validity of her F1 status when they issued the new I-20. If they did not, or if this is the original I-20 and her status has lapsed, the USCIS will probably pick up her being out-of-status with the SEVIS system.
