My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: California
I was pulled over last night for speeding. I was going 60 in a 45 WITHOUT a driver's license or permit. I am 17 was NOT drinking neither was the passenger who was 22. The cop gave me a ticket for a speeding infraction and a misdemeanor for driving without a license. The car was NOT impounded because I was pulling into my neighborhood. I have to appear in court on May 1 for my ticket. I have never been pulled over before nor done anything illegal for that matter. I am really scared and have no idea what to expect. Several people have told me that depending on the judge, I may just have to pay the fine, do community service and get my permit and/or license. However, some people have told me that I may have to wait to be 21 to even apply for my license now. Others have told me I have to wait till I turn 18, which will be in August. I know that my insurance is going to be insanely expensive now too. It was a stupid mistake and I am paying for it now, literally. Someone please tell me what I should expect in court though and ballpark how much I am going to have to pay.
