I had been going through a tough time with my self for a few weeks, and a trip to the mall with my friend resulted in me shoplifting a $5.50 bracelet from a store. The lady asked me to go back and wait for the police. The police asked alot of questions and I answered them truthfully. That was over a month ago, and I barely recieved a letter regarding the incident. It says I may pay $200, and that I would a recieve a written release of the civil penalty claim.
I have never done anything like that in my life, it was just on impulse and I know it was wrong. Im going to college soon, and i really wanted to know if I pay the $200, will it still be on my permanent record, and prevent me from getting a decent job? I dont want one slip in my life to ruin it for the rest of my family because I must support them financially being the only citizen.
