My question involves marriage law for the State of: New York
There was no topic for my question. So I posted here and hope that someone will know where to direct it to or better yet offer some advice. I'm 45 years old and I requested a new copy of my Birth Certificate because I lost my old one over there years. When I received my copy. I noticed that my fathers name was missing. I attempted to contact my birth hospital but it has been closed many years a go.
So I sent to NYC to have his name added back by supplying what they asked for, Parents Marriage Certificate , My baptismal dated 10 years after my birth show both their names , and that they never divorced. My father ran out on us after I was born. He couldnt handle being around 6 kids I guess. I share his middle and last name.
I tried family court but the Judge stated since I was an adult it was not in jurisdiction. A clerk and dept of vital records says to try civil court or get an attorney. I'm not a rich man and cannot afford to pay $500.00 an hour to handle this.
Any suggestions?
