Unhappy Resigning and Relocation Package Payback, Not Informed

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California.

OK, so here is my deal. I am really miserable with my current employer. I moved from DC out to California to take this job about 9 months ago. The company gave me a relocation package for the move. I was required to sign a document agreeing to payback for the relocation. However, they never told me how much that would exactly be.

I have tried to inquire about this and what I am actually liable for if I quit, but I am not getting a very straight answer on it. I am feeling really trapped here. I want to quit my job, but I can't make a good decision as I don't know how much I would have to pay back.

    Any help is appreciated.

You will likely be obligated to pay back everything you received toward moving expenses, That is the standard. There is usually a time period for which you are obligated to work for them in CA to walk away. That does not mean you agreed to this.

How long does the package say you have to stay to avoid payback?

What does the document say re how much you would have to pay back & how long you would have to stay before you didn't have to pay anything back? Is this information not in the document you signed?

I would assume that if it doesn't specify an amount or a portion, then it means the whole amount.
