I am an American citizen living in Japan. After 14 years of marriage, my Japanese wife and I have decided to get a divorce. We have two children, ages 6 and 3, who hold both Japanese and U.S. citizenship & passports.
My wife was deported from the U.S. twice for visa violations. She was able to secure tourist visas twice with my help during our marriage. Her current tourist visa will expire on July 25, 2016.
i have two questions: (1) will divorce invalidate her tourist visa? (2) if not, will it reduce her chances of securing a tourist visa in the future? My chief concern is that if she tries to come to the U.S. with the children to visit their American relatives, she will be denied entry and deported again, taking the children with her.
