Default Contract Signed and then Job Cancelled After Giving Notice to Former Employer

My question involves independent contractors in the state of:

I left my former employer and gave my 2 week notice after the Job Agency gave me a start date and a contract was signed. Their client has cancelled the job and now they want to cancel the contract without any reimbursement for my damages. I had a full time job and left based on the enticement of this new contract. I am now unemployment with bills and no job prospects because of a soft market and hiring does not occur until the third quarter.

    Apologies.

Do I have any chance of suing the Recruiter for negligence. Am I able to sue the recruiter for any damages caused to me as a result of the cancellation of the new contract?

That depends. You not only did not ask a question in your first post, but you also did not provide your state. And state law is a big part of this kind of question.

But I'll cut to the chase here. You're going to ultimately need to show the "contract" to an attorney in your unnamed state since no message board can interpret the enforceability of a document they have not read. So you might want to ask these question of him.
