My question involves criminal law for the state of: TEXAS
Recently (21st of Feb), I was arrested for the possession of less than 2 grams of cannabis, first offence, no prior criminal history (I'm 18). I spent the night and jail, posted bail and was told I was going to be charged with a Class B Misdemeanor. The county has yet to receive my records, so I haven't gotten a court date. I had 3 questions regarding this:
1) How long does something like this take to get resolved (Court, possible probation/whatever)? I was recently accepted to an out of state college and will be attending in August. I hope to sweet Jesus this doesn't carry over past July.
2) How will this charge/conviction affect scholarship offers? Right now I'll probably have a scholarship of close to 13k a semester. I know drug charges make it so you can't receive federal aid, but does this include money from universities?
3) What are the chances of getting this off my record?
Thanks in advance for hearing the same question for the millionth time, and for tolerating my ignorance.
