My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: Connecticut
My father passed away 3 years ago, he left no Will. My brother was appointed the executor of his estate and everything was settled in probate court about 1 1/2yr. later. Just recently found there was Unclaimed Money on a state issued list for my Father. The party (ins. company) holding the funds will not give me any idea as to the amount (will it be worth my while to even pursue it?)which is owed to my Dad's estate. They state I must once again go thru probate court and incure all the fees again. Is there anyway to bypass the probate court this time? My relationship with my brother is non-existant and wonder if I could apply to be the executor this time? Is it hard to do? Is it expensive?
