Default Denial of Unemployment Following Wrongful Termination

I was terminated by Dick's Sporting Goods for "reasons" I described before. I now have received a letter from "Palmer, Reifler & Assoc. stating they represent Dick's for it's claim of lost assets.
"At this point you may settle this matter by making a payment to us in the amount of $325.75" "Should payment fail to be made we will take further action to collect a higher settlement amount" etc etc.
I was fired for giving an employee discount to a person scheduled to work the following day. The total of discount was appx. $20.
I'm fired for a weak reason (the week I had surgery for melanoma) then denied my unemployment benefits (which will result in loss of property, residence) and now they have the nerve to seek damages against me?
Guess that's why they are not called Richard's

Default Re: Denial of Unemployment Following Wrongful Termination

FYI - a wrongful terminbation means you were fired for a reason prohibited by law. What you describe does not meet the definition of a wrongful termination.

Your employer did not deny your unemployment benefits. The state did. The employer does not have the power to either grant or deny benefits. You have the right of appeal.

    What is your question?

Question Re: Denial of Unemployment Following Wrongful Termination

My concern is that the appeal will be denied. I had no opportunity to submit the circumstance. The letter from Palmer, Reifler & Assoc. requesting $325 or they will go to court "take further action and seek a higher settlement. I was with the company 22 months and know they do this to every termination if related to cash or, in this case, a $20 discount.
I'm a golf pro...stayiying in Indiana for Sept. to get this appeal hashed out will make finding a winter job more difficult...not to mention I don't have the funds to go. I am no longer able to submit a claim online...so I must have access to workone at some point.
Should I have witnesses (current employees & subject who got the discount) or have sworn statements? I the statement is the way what is the procedure/format.
