What Sort of Sex Charges Can Be Filed Against a Minor

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California in Kings County.

My 14 year old cousin was arrested for touching two younger girls and having them do the same too him. I believe the girls are maybe at least under 10 years old. He also has been molesting his brother for awhile we just found out this weekend it had been going on. He previously molested his sister and we had to separate them. He has been offered help and in counseling he lied to them about not having those type of feelings anymore.


He is being charged with penal code 288 what does this mean, charges and stuff like that. Any other suggestions would be good too.

If charged with violating PC 288(a) he could be committed to a state institution (CYA) for up to 8 years. Chances are that won't happen, but it could.

More than likely he will face time in county juvenile hall, lengthy probation, counseling, and be required to register as a sex offender.

This is the kind of offense that can haunt him for life but from the sound of it there is something seriously wrong with the kid or what he has been exposed to that led up to this.
