Statue of Limitation and Tollinh

My question involves criminal law for the state of: north carolina

i was just wondering what is the statue of limitation for shoplifting a pair of headphones $110? i was caught but they let me go after i gave them info, i paid for it, and gave the item back.
i'm just worried sick that they would do something but it's been nearly a year now and nothing has been done but i'm afraid they might do something
randomly one day.
1. how long before they can't demand a civil demand?
2. can vacation to another country toll or pause the statue of limitation?

i regret this alot and i do not want this terrible decision of mine to bite me in the ass in later on in life. i wrote a letter saying i was sorry already. i will never do this again. this was the first and last time.

They can demand a civil demand at any time. They can sue you in court for up to three years.
There appears to be no tolling in such circumstances.

so they can demand a civil demand in 20 years if they want to? i assume that you mean that they can sue me for up to 3 years means in civil court only? because i heard after 2 years they can no longer press charges. so if i was away on vacation for 2 months, theres wasn't tolling for 2 month? also what about tolling for statue of limitation for pressing charges? did the statue of limitation for pressing charges stop when i went out of the country for vacation? man..i wish i can take this all back. this was a terrible decision making in my part.
