Default Falsely Accused of Stealing Cash at Work

My question involves civil rights in the State of: California

I was working for company "yxz". I was there for about a year and one day the boss came to me and long story short, wanted to give me more responsibilities and pay me less. I was already making less then minimum wage working 48 hours a week and only making approx $2-300 a week. So obviously i quit right there any then. Before this i was planning on starting my own business, so right after i quit that job i put my business plan in action. The boss from "xyz" noticed this and immediately stopped payment on my last check in hopes that it would discourage me from starting my own business. Not only that, he accused me of stealing from the company. I then proceeded to report him to Labor Commissioner and am waiting for my hearing to take place to settle this. He then called me and told me if i wanted to he can have my check ready, i just had to go pick it up. Obviously i dont trust the guy so i did not go, i would prefer if we settled it at the hearing. So a couple days went by and i tried texting him that if he wanted to give me my check he could either mail it to me, or to labor commissioner. Thats when he told me that he has a statement from a customer saying i never gave the customer a receipt and i pocketed the money and that it was best if i just gave him what i took. This of course is false and i dont know what to do. Can he press charges or sue me for something i did not do?

notes: his sister is a lawyer so she is probably telling him what to do and what not to do.
He claims that i started my business with stolen products from his company
    Someone please help me out!!

He can TRY to do anything. But, if a customer is willing to claim you pocketed the money and the customer is lying, he might think twice if the police start sniffing around.

You can worry all day and night. Until the police come around and start asking questions, try not to think about it too much.

the customer is not claiming that i pocketed the money. he is claiming that i did not write a receipt. The boss now thinks that i pocketed the money because the receipt is missing.
But yea its been freaking me out all day today not so much because of his false accusations, but because his sister is a lawyer and she will probably do everything she can to have a case.

It strikes me that the boss is making up the theft allegation in an attempt to have you dissmiss your complaint with the labor board for your unpaid wages. I seriously doubt you have anything to worry about.

but because his sister is a lawyer and she will probably do everything she can to have a case. The theft allegation has absolutely nothing to do with any lawyers. All the boss can do is file a report with the police, in which case the boss is going to have to give them all the specifics including the customer's name who claimed you pocketed the money. That's just not going to happen. The boss is just blowing hot air.

BTW, most lawyers are highly reputable people. Brother or not, it's incredibly unlikely she's going to waste any time on this nonsense, not in the least because there's absolutely nothing a lawyer would or could do in a situation like this.
