My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Kansas
My close friend is having problems with her roommates. Only herself and her brother are on the lease however her brother has allowed two other friends to crash on the couch and floor since nearly November. The reason she has not mentioned anything to the landlord yet is because her brother and his friends are growing and selling illegal substances in their apartment. She no longer feels safe in her place and cannot get out of her lease. If the police get involved can she get in trouble for knowing that the illegal substances were there? Will she get a fine from her landlord for allowing "guests" to stay in their apartment? The "guests" split the brothers rent only and do not pitch in for any utilities or groceries. They also "borrow" her car and go into her room without even asking. My friend is too nice and she has let this go on for far too long. I am tired of seeing her get walked all over and I need to know what can be done to help her. Thanks for any responces.
