Default Being Banned from a Private Forum

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Georgia

I have been banned from an internet chat forum that says they are a private forum. What dictates whether a forum is private or public?

In this specific case, one can go on this forum and read ALL that is posted, even if you are not a member. Once you are a member, you may post and communicate on the forum. Is this considered a private or public forum?

It doesn't matter. Membership and posting rights are privileges that can be revoked at any time without reason or warning, as a general rule.

I could ban you from my #IRC chatroom just because I just stubbed my toe on the desk.

Likewise, the mods here could ban you for any or no reason at all.

    All legally.

WOuld they have the right to ban anyone's computer, even if it is not the person's computer that was banned but rather someone elses that the banned person used on occasion and that person has never been a member of there forum or has never participated on their forum?

yes, they can ban a specific MAC address, a specific IP address, or a specific user. The can ban everybody in the world if they wish even if none of them have ever been on their forum. They own the forum so they can do with it what they wish (barring illegal discrimination anyway)
