Default 6 Year Old Medical Debt, First Hearing About It Now

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Texas

I don't doubt that this is legitimate payment due on my part. I am just surprised that it took this long to get into contact with collecting party(doctors office).

6 years ago I received some in-patient care. My Father took care of the expenses in full...so we thought. Basically signed associated legal document indicating they would be responsible for incurred costs.

No parties have not been contacted by any person at this facility since services were rendered.

My father received a voice-mail from a receptionist at this doctors office recently, this is almost 6 years after services were rendered. I got the information from my father, called the doctors office and was told that I had a $500 balance for services rendered. I informed the receptionist that this was the first I've heard of this (as is the case with my father) . Post discussion it turns out that they were sending the bill to my previous address, which I moved out of 3 years ago. I updated my address, asked for an invoice to be sent. I know I went to this facility, I thought that my bill was paid in full. There is no issue in paying this bill, but I'd rather not if legally I do not have to...I mean 6 years, really? I can find almost anyone's current address in a few minutes, if not I might have to pay a couple bucks to get that information.

It is not in collections, and I would obviously not want this to happen.
Am I or my Father liable to pay the debt? Does my state's SoL play any part in my/our liability for said debt?
